Found a link - or an entire website - that isn't there any more? Can't find a replacement in the Wayback Machine or elsewhere? This is the place to talk about broken links.

ironman links[edit]

(Copied from my Talk page -Rob)

Hey Rob on the wayback links I only get the can't display page due to robot text. So maybe you being in Canada can see it but me in the USA can not. Maybe we should have a talk with ironman and see what we can do about re-establishing a home for them or just retire the pages if we can't. Lonnie

That's odd - I checked the links from two different computers before I posted them. (Both in Canada, true.) And, yes, we should get in touch with ironman about them... --Robkelk (talk) 23:16, 18 June 2016 (UTC)
Page cannot be displayed due to robots.txt. - I am in Germany ... --Kerya (talk) 19 June 2016
And now I'm seeing the same message. <sigh> Sending a Rendo sitemail to ironman13... --Robkelk (talk) 20:54, 19 June 2016 (UTC)
I think that sometimes sharing the Archive link just makes it look deeper and find that Robots.txt ... I've encountered that before. Sharing a link that works - and the person that tries it hits the robots.txt page. --Kerya (talk) 20 June 2016
Well that sucks. Something to look more into. If WB had the data stored for you and then all of a sudden it disappears then it is WB that is not working the way we think it should. --Dollygirl (talk) 20 June 2016

(New stuff) Got a reply - the sites are "gone for good". --Robkelk (talk) 12:25, 22 June 2016 (UTC)

Stuff no longer available[edit]

I have been thinking about this because I am going through my backups to restore my content library. Since I started on Disk 1 (2010 vintage stuff) I have about a quarter of them that are no-longer available. I know some have supporting products that are still around. What is the goal of the wiki? are we only providing information for the stuff that is still available or are we also compiling a history of what was available? For me I would love to see the history. Helps with doing research for someone that wants to use a freebie but has no clue how to obtain the rest of the stuff. --Dollygirl (talk) 02 May 2017

When I started the wiki, it was with the idea of indexing the available freebies... but this is everybody's wiki, not just mine. I like the idea of having history pages now that you've suggested it. People can use the historical pages to (re-)learn the freebie's creator and the license terms, which is important in some cases. --Robkelk (talk) 23:55, 2 May 2017 (UTC)
